How To Pack Fragile Items Like A Professional
Broken glasses and cracked screens are the most common moving injuries — and almost all of them are preventable. Here is how our packing teams protect fragile items on every job.
Glassware and ceramics
Wrap each piece individually in packing paper, never newspaper (the ink transfers). Plates travel vertically like records, never stacked flat. Fill every gap in the box — a box that rattles is a box that breaks.
Electronics
Original boxes are best. Otherwise, wrap TVs in blankets and bubble wrap, keep them upright, and never lay a flat-screen face down. Photograph cable connections before unplugging so setup at the new place takes minutes.
Artwork and mirrors
Make a cardboard X on the glass with masking tape to absorb vibrations, then wrap in bubble wrap and sandwich between cardboard sheets. Large or valuable pieces deserve custom crating — ask us about it.
The golden rule
Heavy items in small boxes, light items in big boxes. A large box of books is a back injury waiting to happen.
