The Complete Moving House Checklist For Ghana

Moving house in Ghana does not have to be chaotic. The families who have the smoothest moving days all do the same thing: they start early and follow a plan. Here is the exact four-week checklist our crews recommend to every customer.

Four weeks before

Give your landlord written notice and confirm the state of your deposit. Book your movers early — end-of-month dates in Accra fill up fastest. Start decluttering room by room: everything you sell or donate now is money saved on truck space later.

Two weeks before

Gather packing materials, or book a professional packing service. Notify ECG, Ghana Water and your internet provider about your disconnection and reconnection dates. Begin packing the rooms you use least, and label every box with its room and contents.

The final week

Pack an essentials box — chargers, toiletries, a change of clothes, kettle and important documents — that travels with you, not in the truck. Defrost the fridge 24 hours before the move. Confirm the arrival time with your moving company.

Moving day

Walk the crew through the house, point out fragile items, and do a final room-by-room check before the truck leaves. At the new place, direct boxes to their labelled rooms — future you will be grateful.
